What is an employer brand film?

At its heart, it’s an opportunity to bring real people to the forefront of your recruitment, helping you attract the right people for your company.

We would typically create a series of films to inspire potential candidates and give them a great insight into what it’s like to work at your company.

From culture, to work-life balance, to ethos, it’s a chance to hear it straight from the employees.

But why is this helpful?

It’s a chance to bring your employee value proposition to life. Making it more than just words.

Giving candidates an accurate picture of what it’s like to work for you will help you get the right people, who will be the right fit for your company.

Okay, so how do we do it?

First is always the audience. Are you looking to attract apprentices, graduates or senior-level staff? This should inform the type of content you make.

It’s quite possible you will want to engage all these audiences, so how do you do that? Unfortunately, it’s probably not as simple as one video to fix it all.

It’s worth thinking about how you interact with your audience on different levels. They might just want to skim through your careers site and find out a bit more about the company. Or they might be looking in greater detail as they consider applying for a job.

Any top tips on strategy?

One of the approaches our clients find effective is the pairing of a hero film and employee stories.

The hero speaks to the wide employee experience and company values. Whereas, employee stories can be more specific to types of roles and experiences within those roles.

Combining these types of films creates a nice flow across your careers page.

But it doesn’t have to stop there. Take these longer-form films and create really short clips that can be used on your social channels too.

And don’t forget employee user generated content. With some nicely made graphics that top and tail videos, you can get your employees to contribute to the drip feed of content.

So, there’s a little taste of our approach to employer brand films. We hope it’s been helpful.
