Roman make up tutorial

Award-winning history-inspired make-up tutorials.

English Heritage asked us to create a series of six history-inspired make-up tutorials. After a lot of meticulous planning and a deep dive into historical make-up (researched by English Heritage and presenters Amber Butchart and Rebbeca Butterworth), each of these films was shot in just one jam-packed day in a historic location.

We also shot a range of short mini-clips, which were used to promote the films across their social media channels.

The series was a huge success with over 13 million views on YouTube, helping English Heritage expand its channel and engage a new audience. We were super proud when it also won Silver for ‘Best Specialist’ at the International Content Marketing Awards.

Meet Phil. You might find him in funny shoes, wearing a hard hat or sporting silky lycra. Phil is what we affectionately call in the industry, a ‘bike guy’. Phil cut his teeth making films for the bicycle industry, he’s forgotten more about filming 2 wheels than most of us will ever know.

Phil brings a wealth of agency experience as a producer, camera and editor.

Alex Duncan

Alex is fresh-faced from the Big Smoke. In the end, Bristol’s laid-back, coffee-sipping and cider-guzzling culture proved too much of a draw (it gets them all).
Like a clock, his last job involved a lot of Tik-Tok but he’s also a master with a good story.
Multi-talented, you’ll find him out on shoots and in the studio editing.

Adam’s our partner photographer extraordinaire. He works in editorial and commercial.

He’s a ninja on shoots, there’s not a loose flash or stray lens hood anywhere to be found.

He works seamlessly in the background with the video team until it’s his turn to step up and then captures beautiful images.
