Dr. Semmelweis

Bristol Old Vic commissioned us to create a short promotional teaser for their new play Dr Semmelweis.

We had the privilege of filming with Academy Award winning actor Mark Rylance and working with renowned Director Tom Morris. The Old Operating Theatre Museum in London proved to be the perfect backdrop.

One of the core themes of the play was Dr Semmelweis’ descent into madness. We pitched the concept of using a slow shutter to create the blurred ethereal dancers behind, and then directed Mark to slow down his movements so that he remained sharper in the foreground.

The result was a powerful performance to camera that draws the audience into the character’s emotional and mental state.
